Pegasus Airlines is a Turkish low-cost carrier established in 1989 through a partnership between Turkish companies Net and Silkar and Irish airline Aer Lingus. Initially operating as a charter airline, Pegasus commenced scheduled services in 1990 with a fleet of two Boeing 737-400 aircraft. In 1994, Turkish bank Yapi Kredi acquired the airline, making it a fully Turkish-owned entity. The airline transitioned to a low-cost model in 2005 under the ownership of ESAS Holding, led by Ali Sabanci. Pegasus Airlines is headquartered in Istanbul, with its primary base at Sabiha Gökçen International Airport. As of June 2025, the airline operates a fleet of 124 aircraft, including Airbus A320neo, A321neo, and Boeing 737-800 models, with an average fleet age of 4.9 years, making it one of the youngest fleets among low-cost carriers.
