EDIT (OCT '25): I'm so sick of this GARBAGE app! I've deleted and uninstalled it 2-3 times and I'm officially done with it. The only reason I downloaded it again was because I missed a lot of breaking news with other apps, but I'd rather NEVER be on top of breaking stories again than receive dozens of other TRASHY & NON-NEWSWORTHY garbagenotifications ever again! Truly, the "news" that this app finds worthy of headlines is astounding. It's also incredibly biased to the LEFT (for those who care).

Been using this app every day for years, and I'm getting irritated enough about their new ads to drop it. Reading along when the screen splits for an ad that fills the screen before you scroll past it, and there may be 3-4 of these in one article. You don't even notice what the ad is for because the delivery is so visually disruptive.

constantly freezes or closes mid article. used to love this app for everything "news", but anymore it is horrible. app crashes mid article often. And every single article I attempt to read will freeze when scrolling down(likely due to all the ads) and after about 30 seconds either let you scroll to continue the article or crash and boot you back to home screen. do better, smartnews.
